Augusto Giacometti in Aarau and Chur

Don't miss out on two extraordinary exhibitions dedicated to Augusto Giacometti!

Have you ever immersed yourself in the warm colors of Augusto Giacometti's hall at the Police Station in Zurich? Have you ever contemplated the captivating lights radiating from the stained glass windows at the Wasserkirche and Fraumünster, crafted by Augusto Giacometti?
Now, two exhibitions in Aarau and Chur are paying tribute to the works of the Swiss artist Augusto Giacometti (1877-1947):

#1 The exhibition "Augusto Giacometti. Freedom. Commission" at the Aargauer Kunsthaus in Aargau traces the most important stages of Augusto Giacometti artistic career, revolving around the concepts of freedom and commission. Concepts that reveal the field of tension within which Augusto Giacometti spent his productive life as an artist and cultural policymaker. This exhibition is co-curated with the Swiss Institute for Art Research (SIK-ISEA)

At the Aargauer Kunsthaus in Aarau since 20 May 2024.
#2 At the Art Museum Graubünden in Chur, following the exhibition dedicated to the young Alberto Giacometti in 2023, this year features Augusto Giacometti with his works on paper, which form the foundation of his artistic activity. The exhibition titled "Contemplation. Works on Paper" delves into significant artistic expressions. Augusto Giacometti developed his pictorial language between figuration and abstraction using paper, discovering the delicate pastels and luminous watercolors that corresponded with his desire for the dematerialized figuration of light and color.

At the Art Museum Graubünden in Chur until 28 April 2024.
