Cézanne and Renoir at the Foundation Pierre Gianadda

Cézanne and Renoir: an artistic dialogue of masters.

This summer, the Fondation Pierre Gianadda unites Cézanne and Renoir, two titans of French painting from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Previously featured individually at the Fondation, these masters now share the stage, creating a dynamic interplay of their works that have inspired the avant-garde movements of the 20th century. Organized in collaboration with the Musée de l’Orangerie and Musée d’Orsay in Paris, the exhibition " Cézanne and Renoir: Regards croisés" features about 60 paintings.

The exhibition addresses their enduring influence on modern art. Cézanne’s geometric abstraction foreshadows Cubism, while Renoir’s exploration of light and portraiture shaped modern art. The exhibition underscores their profound impact on subsequent generations, illustrated by selected Picasso works complementing this magnificent convergence of two art giants.
