Who is Pipilotti Rist?
Emerging in the 1990s as part of a generation of artists who have explored the connection between technology, nature and the spectacle of ubiquitous images in contemporary societies, Rist is celebrated internationally for her video installations, which combine immersive projections and communal experiences of dreamlike contemplation.
Now, Pipilotti Rist's major survey is currently being showcased in two distinct cultural spaces in the Middle East, in Qatar:
#1 The video-installation "Your Brain to Me, My Brain to You visited" (2022) is successfully exhibited at the Qatar National Museum since next 30 April 2024. Set against a backdrop of Qatar's landscapes, accompanied by a soundscape and video footage, 12,000 LED lights are synchronized to create an immersive experience. Visitors are invited to embark on a journey of self-discovery through a multisensory experience that inspires introspection and awe.
#2 The Fire Station, a contemporary art space in Doha, is delighted to announce the first major survey of Pipilotti Rist in the Middle East, running from 23 February to 1 June 2024. The exhibition titled "Electric Idyll" features 14 works displayed in the expansive Fire Station space, interconnected with video installations and digital landscapes. New participatory pieces are presented in dialogue with some of Rist's most celebrated works.
