The Sculptures of Maillol & Sintenis are Displayed in Winterthur

Explore a world of sculptures at Villa Römerholz in Winterthur with the captivating exhibition, "Of Grandeur and Grace - Maillol and Sintenis".

The exhibition "Of Grandeur and Grace - Maillol and Sintenis" brings together sculptures, prints and drawings by two influential artists of the early 20th century. At the heart of the exhibition stands the monumental limestone figure "La Méditerranée" (1905-1907) by Aristide Maillol (1861-1944), a masterpiece from the  "Am Römerholz" collection. Alongside Maillol's work, visitors will encounter the captivating sculptures of Renée Sintenis (1888-1965), a renowned Berlin artist highly esteemed by Maillol himself. Sintenis's creations, characterized by their small format and playful depictions of animals, garnered widespread recognition and acclaim throughout the 1920s and beyond.

In "Of Grandeur and Grace - Maillol and Sintenis", the works of these two artists are juxtaposed for the first time, offering a unique opportunity to explore their similarities and differences, providing new insights into their artistic visions.

The exhibition will be on display until 15 September 2024, at Villa Römerholz, Winterthur.
