Word Press Photo 2024 at the Landesmuseum Zurich

The Landesmuseum Zurich hosts the “World Press Photo Exhibition” again this year!

The "World Press Exhibition 2024" showcases the best in photojournalism and documentary photography from the past year, traveling throughout the most important cities worldwide and the major events of 2022. The exhibition features the winners from the 67th annual World Press Photo Contest, selected from over 61,000 entries by an independent jury.

The World Press Photo contest is a prestigious international competition that recognizes and celebrates the best in photojournalism and documentary photography. Established in 1955 by the World Press Photo Foundation, a Dutch non-profit organization, the contest aims to promote high standards in photojournalism and support the work of photographers worldwide.

For the current edition of the competition, approximately 3,800 photographers from 130 countries submitted over 61,000 images. The topics covered range from the plight of refugees and natural disasters to the international effort to save monarch butterflies from extinction. The global review of 2023 offers a unique opportunity to thoughtfully engage with current affairs that often pass quickly in the media, to explore them from previously unknown perspectives, and to reflect critically on these issues.

The exhibition will be on display until 9 June 2024, at the Landesmuseum, Zurich.
